Focused On Providing The Best Possible Treatment To Our Patients

We Have Created Our Care Practice Specially To Fit Your Needs

From trouble sleeping to work stress to anxiety to depression, we all have difficulty managing our emotions at times. It’s part of being human. And addressing these issues is a vital part of what we do as a primary care practice, because your emotional well-being is essential to your overall health and wellness.

We’ve redesigned the doctor’s office experience to fit your life, put you at ease, and treat you as a whole person. We create safe and inviting spaces,

ask meaningful questions, give you time to talk, and listen without judgment. Then we work with you on a plan to help you feel your best — whether you want to sleep better, feel calmer, worry less, or get a better handle on your mood.

To continue shedding a light on mental health issues, we teamed up with the award-winning musicians from Bear and a Banjo to create a song showing people they’re not alone. See how the project came to life in the video above — and if you’re struggling, we can help.

Make Physical Therapy Part of Your Wellness Plan

When it comes to physical therapy, most people think that it is something which is set aside only for persons who are injured. But the truth is, rehabilitation is not the only benefit that physical therapy offers. Physical therapy can be included as part of your overall wellness routine.

Though physical therapists usually work with people who are healing from an injury or with people who need to restore mobility and alignment, they can also help you prevent unnecessary injuries. Physical therapists can help you with instructions for exercises to strengthen muscles, analyze your movement and predict injury risk, address your strength imbalances, all that is required for your optimal physical function.

There are people who come to Optimum Rehab Physical Therapy in NYC even if they are not injured. They treat physical therapy as part of their wellness regimen and as a preventive measure from injuries and to learn what exercises they should follow to keep their bodies safe while they workout or hit the gym. Others come to work on their postures and for overall wellness of their body.

How Physical Therapy Helps you to Prevent Injury

A common question is, why should I meet a physical therapist if I am not injured or in pain? Seeing a physical therapist even if you are not experiencing any symptoms, can be beneficial as it can establish awareness in your movement, and improve your strength, balance, flexibility and body mechanics. Usually, an injury prevention session with your physical therapist can reveal an underlying dysfunction.

If you are considering an intensive training program or are planning to engage in any new sports or activity, it is a good idea to consult with your physical therapist. Taking part in our injury prevention program is ideal for athletes of all age groups. Our physical therapists let you know what exercises or instructions to follow to make your body stay fit, healthy and strong.

Injury prevention program also known as ‘Prehab’, at Optimum Rehab Physical Therapy NYC, we focus on the movements of the individual and determine what injuries he or she might be at risk for. Prehab is an individualized program that evolves according to the person’s health and can change with the person’s needs. It focusses mainly on the core strength and involves specific exercises and activities that are required to prevent injuries while actively taking part in recreational activities.

Our physical therapists analyze the imbalances, weaknesses and focus on strengthening and correcting your vulnerable areas. They will also educate on ways to prevent injuries which will ultimately result in increased performance in day to day activities. Manual Therapy

Manual Therapy, also known as manipulative therapy or hands-on therapy, is a physical treatment that uses no machines. Manual Therapy is mainly used by Physical and Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists, defined slightly different based on the medical professional’s scope of practice. Physical Therapists use only their hands while performing skilled, specific hands-on techniques, and mobilizations/manipulation. Manual Therapy helps to increase range of motion by improving flexibility in joints and muscles, modulate pain, increase circulation, and reduce or eliminate soft tissue inflammation or swelling.

Active Release Therapy(ART)

ART is a soft tissue system/movement based massage technique that focuses on relieving problems with muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia and nerves. Conditions like headaches, back pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, shin splints, shoulder pain, sciatica, plantar fasciitis, knee problems, and tennis elbow which is often a result of overused muscles are just a few of the many conditions that can be resolved quickly and permanently with ART.

Kinesio Taping

Kinesio Taping is based on the body’s own natural healing process and gives support and stability to joints and muscles without affecting circulation and range of motion and helps to alleviate pain. This method originates from the science of Kinesiology, hence the name “Kinesio”.

Massage Therapy

Massage therapy can ally with standard medical treatment for a wide range of medical conditions. There are also a wide variety of therapy styles which involve pressing, rubbing muscles or soft tissues with hands, fingers, feet, or forearms.

ASTYM (Augmented Soft Tissue Mobilization)

ASTYM helps in the breaking down of scar tissue and is effective in the treatment of tendonitis, plantar fasciitis, hamstring injuries, post traumatic or post-surgical scarring and pain or movement restrictions. ASTYM incorporates flexibility, strengthening, muscle re-education and is safe. This process allows the Physical Therapist to work effectively on a patient in a minimal number of sessions. However, for ASTYM to work, patients must take an active role in their rehabilitation process by maintaining flexibility at home.

Neural Mobilization Technique

Neural Mobilization is a technique which involves stretching and movement of the tight neural structures to relieve pain, numbness, tingling or weakness. Common conditions that gets relieved from this technique include carpel tunnel syndrome and sciatica.
