Ultrasound Therapy

We provide Individualized Physical Therapy services

Ultrasound is safe, painless and produces pictures of inside body using sound waves. It is a form of thermotherapy that helps to heal painful conditions and repair soft tissue damage.
Ultrasound Therapy uses high-frequency sound waves that can penetrate up to 2 inches into your skin. The sound waves are applied using a round-headed probe that is put in direct contact with the patient’s skin.
Ultrasound gel is used on all surfaces of the head as a coupling medium to reduce friction and assist in the transmission of the ultrasonic waves. Therapeutic ultrasound is in the frequency range of about 0.8-3.0 MHz. The intensity or power density of the ultrasound can be adjusted depending on the desired effect. A greater power density (measured in watt/cm2) is often used in cases where scar tissue breakdown is the goal.
Ultrasound can produce many effects such as localized heating of the tissues, tissue relaxation, local blood flow, and scar tissue breakdown. The increase in local blood flow can help reduce local swelling and chronic inflammation. According to some studies, it also helps to promote bone fracture healing.
